The Controller Info Window
The Controller Info Window is where you customize your controller settings. Models vary widely, although they typically support an INSTEON address or X-10 house code.
Name |
You can provide any name for a controller, except “Mac” or a name you are already using for another controller. If the model of controller supports storing a schedule, then its schedule will be named the same as the controller. |
Connection |
A controller is normally connected to the Mac by USB or a serial port, depending on the model. Serial controllers require that you select a serial port to use. |
Address |
INSTEON controllers have a unique address built-in. Thinking Home will retrieve this for you whenever possible. |
X-10 House code |
Many controller models use an X-10 house code. For a CM-11A, this determines which devices it watches for changes in on-off status. The CP-290 uses its house code when a button is pressed on the face of the controller. |
Notes |
You can also make notes about the controller. Like the example above, someone having multiple controllers may note that one is located in another building across the property. |
Model |
Some key model information is shown in this area. The Details button leads to the Gadget Guide, which has more detail about the model, including a web link. |
